Crucial Work

Remember that in the red states there are plenty of intelligent, well-educated, caring, and patriotic citizens who will vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

With less than a week until November 3, the question about Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas -- is, "Are there enough of them?"

Flipping those states from their 2016 vote for Trump is a heavy lift. We can take heart that we are making it close. Just as we transformed Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Virginia into reliably blue havens (in all four we boast a trifecta: governor, state senate and state house all Democratic), I believe we will do the same in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina AT SOME POINT SOON. That change is led by urban and suburban voters who are more educated, younger, and more diverse. I do not share the belief that we will see a blue Texas anytime soon. And Florida will remain politically schizophrenic.

On the other side, anyone who votes for Donald Trump in 2020 is beyond redemption. Their brains have been filled with too much misinformation, fear, and hatred. Rightwing radio, Fox, Newsmax, AON, Sinclair broadcasting, and rabid or conspiratorial websites are making too much money to stop now.

We simply must OUTVOTE THEM! This means staying engaged at all levels of government, from school boards on up. It means continuing to craft a healthier and more enlightened electorate. Even if Biden wins and we take the Senate, that work is crucial.

The Debate: Trump The Abuser

Trump is not just a bully. He is an abuser. And his sociopathy was on full display: No respect for Beau Biden's military service. No empathy for those who have died of COVID. No compassion for Hunter Biden's struggle to successfully beat a drug problem. All lies about Joe Biden's record or current proposals. Zero responsibility for anything he has done wrong. Made-up nonsense about the virus or climate change or fill in the blank. No adherence to the rules of the debate. Megalomania ("the best president for blacks since Abraham Lincoln" or "the greatest term of any president in history"). And no condemnation of white supremacists; instead a call for them to "stand by."

Trump has abused his office and our country since January 20, 2017. You saw another sad chapter tonight.
